Learn the Basics of Blackjack

Blackjack is a fast-paced card game played in casinos. The goal of the game is to get cards that equal 21. If you get a 17 or 18, this is good enough and you don't need to get another card. If you keep on hitting and get more than 21, you lose. It's as simple as that.

However, when you are actually sitting in a Blackjack table already, online or in live casinos, it is not as simple as it seems. There are techniques that you need to learn and you develop your skills over time.

There are variations of Blackjack depending on where you're playing. The objective is still to get 21 or lose the game but the decks used per game could differ.

For instance, in some Blackjack rooms, two decks of cards are used at once to avoid dealing again after every game. More importantly, this is a technique used by the house to avoid players having to read what cars are still left in the deck.

Since players are competing against the house, the dealer has to protect their interest. Most players will try to see what cards have already been dealt and try to approximate what cards are still in the deck so they can anticipate them on the next deal.

You may also notice that after each hand, the dealer shuffles the cards again and this is to once again eliminate any second-guessing from players as to the remaining cards in the deck.

You should see on the tables what kind of betting this particular table does so you will know right away how the game will go. This will also tell you how much the starting bet is and the highest amount that you can bet.

If you get a Blackjack, you will automatically get the amount that you bet on plus an additional 5%. So if you bet $20, you get your $20 back plus $30 from the dealer.

If you get a regular win, you simply get back what you bet, say $20, plus the same amount from the dealer. You should know that there are other rules that apply to the game as well other than the regular betting rules. For example, if you feel that you have a poor hand, you can fold up right on get back 50% of your bet.

The other 50% is automatically credited to the house. To fully understand how the game goes, you should play a few games to just get a grip on the whole system of the game. Free games are available on the internet so you don't have to worry about losing your money right away.
